Information

Archcathedral Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka (Polish: Bazylika archikatedralna św. Stanisława Kostki w Łodzi) is located in Łódź at 265 Piotrowska Street. The construction of the basilica began before the First World War, and the diocese of Łódź itself was established only in 1920 by Pope Benedict XV. The building is in the neo-Gothic style. The façade of the church is lined with a characteristic yellow face brick. In the cathedral there are many valuable monuments, including three altars: the main altar of the Transfiguration, the altar of St. Stanisław Kostka - the patron of the cathedral and the altar of Our Lady of the Rosary. Inside, there are also 58-voice organs in the main choir at the back of the temple and a 10-voice organ in the side choir by the presbytery. Organ music concerts are held in the church and there is an underground multimedia room in which the Center For Multiculturalism is located. An important and beautiful element of the temple's interior are stained glass windows from different periods. The oldest and at the same time the most impressive are the stained glass windows in the presbytery windows depicting the marriage of Mary, the Angel giving Holy Communion. patron of the cathedral and figures of saints.
