Baltic Sail is an international agreement signed by the largest cities in the Baltic Sea region, initiated by Rostock in 1991. The aim and assumption of the initiators is to promote the maritime heritage of the European Baltic Sea region and to support traditional Baltic shipping from port to port. Currently, Baltic Sail includes: Gdańsk, Klaipeda, Rostock, Karlskrona, Nysted, Riga, Szczecin. Every year, sailing festival is organized in the ports associated with the Baltic Sail, bringing their inhabitants closer. The rally is open to all vessels, including tourist yachts, cutters and motorboats. The aim of the event is to integrate sailing communities and promote Gdańsk's maritime heritage. For sailors, it is an opportunity to meet people with similar interests, gain new experiences and establish new contacts. The event is organized in Gdańsk every year from the moment the yacht marina in the city center is put into use. During the few days of the rally, the inhabitants of Gdańsk and tourists have the opportunity to see the most beautiful traditional sailing ships from almost all over Europe and take cruises on the Gulf of Gdańsk and learn about sea adventures and stories told by the crews of sailing ships.
