Information

The Palace in Otwock Wielki is one of the best-preserved late-baroque palaces in Mazovia. It is located on the artificial island of Rokola. It was erected at the end of the 17th century for the Grand Marshal of the Crown, Kazimierz Bieliński. After World War II, the facility was inaccessible to tourists for many years. It was not until 2004 that the palace was taken over by the National Museum in Warsaw, creating the Museum of Interiors. Exhibits from museum warehouses that have not yet had the opportunity to see the light of day have found their way here. Among the many beautiful furniture from the 17th and 18th centuries, visitors can see real gems and completely surprising items, e.g. a writing desk with lots of drawers and secret hiding places, a wooden box for threads and embroidery accessories, a prototype of a shoe cleaner, heated ceramic stools and many other peculiarities. Inside the palace, visitors will see, among others representative hall, dining room and ballroom with a separate balcony, where the orchestra played. There were separate rooms for men in the palace - with frescoes on the walls (e.g. sea motifs), and for women. The palace is surrounded by a large park.
