Canoeing on the Łyna River
Canoeing on the Łyna River

Information

Łyna has springs near the village of the same name. The river flows to the north, passing Olsztyn, Dobre Miasto, Lidzbark Warmiński, Bartoszyce, Sępopol along the way and flows into Pregoła in the Kaliningrad District. The river is 289 km long, of which almost 200 in Poland. The upper course of the Łyna River is filled with wonderful forests and lakes as well as two gorges that allow you to taste the emotions typical of rafting on mountain rivers. The route from Olsztyn has outstanding sightseeing values, it can also be called the route of Gothic castles and churches. The Łyna trail begins in Kurki, where two rivers converge: Marózka and Łyna. The Łyna River trail is an easy and basically safe trail. The upper sections, however, require increased attention and little experience due to the almost mountainous nature of the river in that part of the trail. Shallows and rapids covered with stones, varied by tree logs lying in the river current, can be quite a challenge for some canoeists. Difficulties for beginner canoeists can also be caused by frequent relocations of canoes. Nevertheless, beginner canoeists, families with children, school groups and company groups can go to Łyna.
