Information

The castle in Czersk was built at the end of the 14th century by prince Janusz the Elder on the site of an earlier stronghold. The castle had three towers, with one of them—being four-sided—used as the main gate house. On the eastern side, a moat was built over which in the Middle Ages wooden drawbridges were thrown - separate for pedestrians and horse knights. To this day, most of the castle walls and all three towers (Gate, South and West), from which visitors can admire the panorama of the area, have been preserved. The castle is available to tourists all year round and its administrator is the Culture Center in Góra Kalwaria. From May to late autumn, the Czersk Castle is the venue for many events - knightly tournaments, performances and historical reconstructions, concerts and family picnics.
