The Górka Palace is one of the most magnificent Renaissance aristocratic residences in Poland. It was built in the years 1545-1549 as a result of the reconstruction of several gothic tenement houses belonging to Andrzej II Górka. Particularly noteworthy is the sandstone portal of the palace entrance gate, which is probably the work of an Italian artist. The portal leads to the inner courtyard with a three-wing arcaded cloister, whose columns, probably the work of Silesian stonemasons, have survived to this day. From June 8, 1968, the palace houses the Archaeological Museum. The museum has the richest collections of ancient Egypt in Poland, deposited with the Archaeological Museums in Berlin and Munich. Among them is the obelisk of Ramses II standing in the courtyard in front of the temple in Athribis. The unique monolith, after renovation, recovered a pyramidion made of 23 carat gold. Another permanent exhibition is "Pradzieje Wielkopolski".
