Jatki, Wrocław, 50-111
The memorial represents a group of domestic animals cast in bronze and commemorates both the animals slaughtered by food industry as well as the history of this part of Wrocław. The statues are located in Stare Jatki street, where “Jatki” is Polish refers to a place where people could buy meet directly from slaughterhouses.
The memorial was set up in 1997 and the first bronze animals were a goose, a goat and a pig. A duck, a rooster, a rabbit and a calf were added in later years - each animal by different artist. The sign placed in the pavement says: In memory of Animals Slaughtered/ Consumers.
