Information

The International Organ Music Festival is the oldest festival of this type in Poland. It has been held in summer - in July and August - annually since 1957, in the Oliwa Cathedral. Its organizer is the Polish Baltic Philharmonic and the Pomeranian Association "Musica Sacra". The organ in the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, the Blessed Virgin Mary in Gdańsk-Oliwa was built in the years 1763-88, by the Cistercian monk Jan Wulf. They have 110 voices and 7,876 pipes, 906 of which are in small organs placed in the transept. In the Oliwa Cathedral, there are as many as three instruments: the famous great organ, the organ in the transept and the positive - a small instrument in the arch of the aisle. The possibilities of these instruments, connected by a common playing table, can be admired during the Summer Festival. Excellent musicians from all over the world come to the annual festivals. In addition to the most outstanding Polish artists, there are organ virtuosos from Europe and, among others, from Canada, the United States, Mexico, New Zealand, Uruguay, Israel, Argentina, Australia.
