Information

Palace Izraela is a manufacturer’s palace from the 19th century, often called Łódź’s Louvre and currently a Museum of Łódź City. It is situated at 15 Ogrodowa Street and is one of the most glamorous buildings in the city. It was originally situated close to a factory and worker’s houses and it was a part of factory-residential complex. The building was initially designed on a basis of French Renaissance ideas. Still, after rebuilding which ended about 1903, the main corpus has gained monumental neo-Baroque character. The dominant features of the residence are two domes that cover a representational dining room and a ballroom. The interiors are lavishly decorated and eclectic. During its history the palace had many owners but in 1975 it has become the museum. Visitors will find here the following exhibitions: From Łódź History, the Polish Masters Gallery, Łódź’s Model and temporary exhibitions. It is also possible to hire some palace interiors (The Mirror Hall, The Dining Hall) for various events. Izrael Poznański Palace is such an original building that it really should not be omitted during central Poland tours.
