Information

Mausoleum of Polish Rural Martyrology in Michniów is a unique historical and martyrdom museum, the main purpose of which is to preserve the memory of 817 Polish villages pacified during World War II. Due to the mass grave of the murdered inhabitants of Michniów located in the Mausoleum, the Museum is also a National Remembrance site. Since 1999, the Mausoleum in Michniów has been a branch of the Museum of the Kielce Countryside. Currently, the Mausoleum includes: the grave of the murdered inhabitants of Michniów, the Chapel of St. Małgorzata, the House of National Remembrance (performing administrative and exhibition functions), Pieta Michniowska and the new Mausoleum building under construction. The mausoleum is one long building, divided into segments with an area of about 2,000 meters of exhibition space. The building has the form of a House - Chata, it consists of closed and open segments. There were gaps in the walls along the entire length of the building - glass partitions separating individual parts from each other. At night, the monument will remind visitors of burning villages and huts. Through the partitions, visitors will be able to go outside, where - on both sides of the building, four-meter crosses made of burnt wood will be placed.
