Mikołajki is a resort town, located in the Land of the Great Masurian Lakes, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. The city is located in the very center of the European water route, about 150 km long. This trail consists of numerous natural water reservoirs connected by rivers or canals. Thanks to this picturesque location, Mikołajki is called the Pearl of Masuria or the Venice of Masuria. Due to its attractive location on Lake Tałta and Lake Mikołajskie, the city is also considered the sailing capital of Poland.They attract lots of tourists every summer. It is a great starting point for cruises on the nearby lakes. There are excellent conditions for practicing many water sports, such as canoeing, windsurfing, motor sports, as well as horse riding, hiking and cycling. It is also a dreamland for anglers. In winter, it is possible to practice cross-country and downhill skiing and ice ice fishing here. There are many monuments and places worth visiting in Mikołajki and near the city. The main monument of the city is the 19th century Evangelical church with a high clock tower. The Museum of the Polish Reformation is located next to the church in the 19th century building. On the main Wolności Square (the market square) there is a fountain with the King of Sielawy Region. The city is adjacent to the Masurian Landscape Park, which was established in 1977. There are 60 lakes in the Park, among which is the largest lake in Poland - Lake Śniardwy, and also recognized as one of the most interesting canoeing routes in Europe - the Krutyń River.
