Information

The Ghetto Heroes Monument is a monumnt at Zamenhofa Street in Muranów, commemorating the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising of 1943 during the Second World War. The monument is the work of Natan Rapaport, designed by Marek Suzin. It was unveiled next to an earlier monument on April 19, 1948, on the fifth anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. The monument stands 11 meters tall. At the bottom of the monument there is a sign in three languages: Polish, Yiddish and Hebrew - "Jewish nation to its fighters and martyrs." At the top, there is a bronze bas-relief, in the center of which is Mordechaj Anielewicz, who was the leader of Żydowska Organizacja Bojowa (Jewish Combat Organization), also known as the ŻOB, during the uprising. Opposite the monument is the Museum of the History of Polish Jews.
