Information

The Museum of Kashubian Ceramics Neclów is located next to the pottery workshop in Chmielno. For ten generations, the Necel family has been producing decorative clay pots. Chmielno pottery was started in 1907 by the family's doyen, Franciszek Necel. Over the years, the workshop went through various vicissitudes, from its full bloom, through the war devastation, to the "cleanup" of the People's Republic of Poland, and finally returned to the Necel family in 1979. The Necel ceramics are characterized by unique ornamentation. It is a lilac branch, a tulip, a Kashubian star, a fish scale, a Kashubian wreath and a lily. The museum was established in 1993 on the initiative of the Kashubian-Pomeranian Association and its collection includes products of the last three generations of Necel. In the museum, visitors can learn about the history of the family and the workshop, follow the process of making clay vessels, test yourself on a potter's wheel, and buy a souvenir ceramic product. On the shelves, visito can see the mass of dishes drying up and waiting in line for processing. On the other hand, the walls of the museum are decorated with diplomas and awards - recognition of the Necel family for their enormous contribution to the tradition, culture and art of Kashubia and pottery. The museum offers pottery workshops.
