Information

The Museum of the Opole Village (Polish: Muzeum Wsi Opolskiej) was established on November 14, 1961, and it was opened to visitors on September 23, 1970. Its main tasks include, in particular, the collection, conservation, scientific development and access to monuments of the folk culture of Opole Silesia, with particular emphasis on wooden folk architecture. The main part of the exhibition consists of transferred and reconstructed rural architecture objects illustrating the living conditions of the rural population in the period from the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century: residential buildings, barns, granaries, as well as mills and windmills, a blacksmith's shop, a church, an inn and a school. A collection of almost 7,000 museum pieces in the field of material culture was also created, including historic items from the field of farming, breeding, crafts and everyday life of the inhabitants of the Opole village. Many events promoting folk culture and folklore take place in the museum area, incl. Żniwniok Opolski and the Easter Market.
