Information

The Post and Telecommunications Museum (Muzeum Poczty i Telekomunikacji Wrocław) was established in 1921 in Warsaw. Since 1956, it has been located in the historic building of the Main Post Office in Wrocław. It is the only museum in Poland that collects exhibits documenting the history of postal, telecommunications and telegraphy in Poland. The museum has five permanent exhibitions: The history of Poczta Polska, Signs and mailboxes, Horse – drawn postal vehicles, Telegraph and telephone and the last one – Radio and television. There are many valuable exhibits in the museum's collections, including letters by King John II Casimir Vasa, documents featuring a hand signature of Tadeusz Kościuszko, earliest Polish stamps, decorative stationery, a menu from a mail station restaurant and a map featuring mail stations and routes from the beginning of the 19th century. Since 1988, the museum has been a member of ICOM (International Council of Museums) and IATM (International Association of Transport Museums).
