Information

The Nowa Huta Museum is a branch of the Museum of Krakow, operating in former cinema building which is located right in the center of Krakow’s district Nowa Huta. In its research, exhibition and educational activities, the museum combines the idea of a local museum (focusing on Nowa Huta) and place where people could find stories about wider perspective of the experience of the Cold War and socialism. You can visit here temporary exhibitions and the air raid shelter underneath the building, in which the exhibition ‘Nuclear threat. Shelters in Nowa Huta’ is displayed. The second location of the Nowa Huta Museum is Nowa Huta Underground at Szkolne Estate, where you can also see another air raid shelter and the the exhibition ‘State of Emergency’. You can combine visiting both Nowa Huta Museum and Nowa Huta Underground with the themed walk around Nowa Huta district to get knowledge about its unique urban layout and the architecture of socialist realism.

Please note that ITS-Poland works with groups only (10 participants and more).
