Information

The Nysa Fortress is one of the largest fortification systems in Europe. It is a vast complex consisting of many military facilities. Fortress structures in Nysa were built in the period from the 16th to the 19th century, and 60% of the original fortifications have been preserved to this day. Some of the fortifications are open to the public, some can be visited at your own risk, but there are also those that have been transformed into functional buildings such as warehouses, garages. Nysa offers two tourist and educational routes connecting the restored facilities of the Fortress, i.e. the Bastion of St. Jadwiga and Water Fort with the rest of the city. These routes, created by the City Hall in Nysa in 2007-2008 and marked with information boards, lead through the most interesting, in terms of history, architecture and nature, places of Nysa. The Bastion of St. Jadwigi is a well-functioning Cultural Life Center and Tourist Information. There are exhibition halls here that showcase the history of the Fortress. Numerous events and reconstructions of historical events take place regularly in the Water Fort.
