Opera Nova is one of the most modern music theaters in Poland. It was built in the late 1960s and is located in a bend of the Brda river between Old Town and Downtown Bydgoszcz. Opera Nova Bydgoszcz presents a rich repertoire: operettas and musicals, opera and ballet works, as well as concerts and musical performances. The repertoire of the opera in Bydgoszcz includes such classics as Carmen, The Barber of Seville or Halka, operettas such as The Gypsy Baron, Countess Maritza and musicals, such as My Fair Lady. One of the greatest achievements of this institution is the Bydgoszcz Opera Festival, which has been organized continuously since 1994. The building has 6 levels and it has three connecting circles. The First Circle hosts the main auditorium for 803 people, a large stage, two rehearsal rooms - for ballet and chorus, costumes storing area and a chamber hall with 189 seats (beneath the auditorium). The Second circle houses a ventilation chamber in the basement, an actor club, a large orchestra hall and a ballet rehearsal area, two floors for dressing rooms (choir and ballet), and on the top floor administration offices. The Third circle is devoted to the Opera Nova Convention Center, with two conference rooms (more than 200 seats each). There are also the Department of Promotion and the restaurant "Maestra".
