The International Ice Sculpture Festival - Poznań Ice Festival is one of the most important and definitely the most interesting winter events in Wielkopolska. Every year attracts the most famous artists from around the world, and their works are admired by thousands of Poznań residents and tourists on the Old Market Square. During the two-day event, sculptors use several tons of ice to charm residents and tourists with an unusual display of frosty works of art. The festival consists of two competitions. On the first day, the sculptors take part in Speed Ice Carving alone. In this competition, participants have at their disposal a block of ice of the same size, which they are to transform into a sculpture according to the design within several dozen minutes. The sculpture most faithful to the project wins. On the second day, teams of two are competing against each other. The subject of the sculptures is optional.
