Radzyń Chełmiński ruins are situated 57 km from Toruń (about 1 h drive) and 82 km from Bydgoszcz (about 1h 25 min drive). In the past the Teutonic castle had 4 wings. It was built between 1310 and 1330. The building was devastated in 1628 during Polish-Swedish wars and after 1772 people started to take its bricks for other nearby constructions. This devastation lasted till 1832. Since then the place has been under only immediate conservation procedures. Nowadays, tourists can see the southern wing with castle’s chapel (no roof here), the façade of almost original height, two corner towers, basements and remains of walls. Tourist can enter ruins, climb both towers with panoramic views of the surrounding area and look at exhibitions in basements with torture machines and Medieval building models. In the castle we can also find a knights society. It is also a culture centre with fairs, concerts, picnics and fests. Radzyń Chełmiński castle ruins are an interesting place for all history lovers.
