Information

The island is one of Gdańsk districts and is located only 15 km from the city center. It is the third biggest islands at the Polish coast (37 square kilometers). The island was created in Vistula’s delta thanks to the change of the main river bed. Sobieszewo is a magnet for tourist especially because of white sandy beaches so, we can meet here a lot of sea and sun tan lovers. Still, there are some more attractions to see. The island is also a magnet for ornithologists as there are 2 natural reserves on the island “the Birds’ Heaven” and “the Seagull Sandbank”. The Seagull Sandbank is a natural sanctuary for about 165 seals and 50 species of birds which can be observed with binoculars from a special deck. On the island there is also a green walking trail that has 10 km length. National Science Institute also organizes here special lectures for nature lovers. Sobieszewo Island is an ideal place for relax on a beach and an excellent base for sightseeing of Tri-city.
