The first pier in Sopot was constructed in 1827 so, the building has long tradition in Sopot. Recreational areas not only include the pier itself but also 20 000 m2 square. In winter the square offers skating rink. At the square there are also other attractions such as a fountain, a light house with a view point, a band shell and souvenir shops and bars.
