The Monument to the Little Insurgent is located at Podwale Street. It was designed in 1946 by Jerzy Jarnuszkiewicz. It commemorates the youngest participants of the Warsaw Uprising. The sculpture shows a young boy in a German stahlhelm with an eagle falling over his forehead and a painted white and red headband, in oversized boots and a coat, and a submachine gun slung over his shoulder. As a monument of the "Little Insurgent", it was erected in the Warsaw Old Town on October 1, 1983. Behind the monument there is a plaque on which words are inscribed, which are a quote from one of the most famous songs of the Warsaw Uprising period: "Warsaw children, we will go into battle, for every stone we will give blood to your capital".
