Sweets of St. Martin are connected to Poznań. On the 11th of November in Poland we have not only Independence Day but also everywhere people buy special St. Martin crescent shaped buns to commemorate St. Martin’s Day. The home of all festivities is Poznań city. The event in Poznań changes every year but there are some stable elements. First of all, there is procession of St. Martin with a man in Roman soldier costume on a horse and a few hundred people: stilts walkers, musicians and special platforms. They all go to “Zamek” Culture Center where the president gives St. Martin the keys to the city. Then the festivities begin. This year there are going to be a fair; workshops of handicraft, art, sculpture and lantern making; games for families; dancing and concerts. Every year there is also a fireworks show at the end of all festivities.
