Swiecie Teutonic Castle is located in Świecie, a city in northern Poland, approximately 40 km from Bydgoszcz, 105 km from Gdańsk. It was built by Teutonic Knights after 1335, in the 1st half of the 14th century, in a Gothic style. Unfortunately, the castle was ruined during the Swedish Wars. The castle devastation started in the 17th century. Since then it has never been rebuilt. At present, the castle ruins are eagerly visited by tourists. Sightseeing takes about 40 minutes. The castle offers a tour in the undergrounds where tourists can watch Medieval torture equipment, the armory with replicas of medieval weaponry, siege machinery and exhibition about the castle beginnings. What is more, every tourist should climb to the top of a crooked tower from which we can admire the beautiful panorama of the city, Vistula river bend and Chełmno city, which is situated at 9 hills. Various events are also held in the castle, such as exhibitions, tournaments, picnics, concerts and cyclical events. Świecie castle is a place that should be discovered by tourists.
