The Philharmonic in Szczecin was established in 1948. Its first concert, conducted by Felicjan Lasota, took place on October 25, 1948. The seat of the Philharmonic was for a long time located in one of the wings of the City Hall. In April 2011, the construction of a new building began. The modern building has won many architectural awards. It is the seat of the Philharmonic Mieczysław Karłowicz . The building is very modern in terms of appearance, but also in terms of acoustics. It has numerous acoustic panels, which creates excellent conditions for sound propagation. The symphony hall, also known as the Solar Hall, can accommodate an audience of 953 people. The acoustics in the symphony hall are comparable to those in the concert hall of the Vienna Philharmonic. Second hall, the chamber hall is designed for 192 spectators. It was created for the needs of chamber concerts and educational events. Over 122 thousand m of space of the philharmonic, divided into four floors, houses, among others an instrument warehouse, dressing rooms for artists, a spacious foyer, cafes, a music shop, rehearsal rooms, offices and a Level 4 gallery. On a daily basis, the white facade of the Philharmonic can shine with many colors in various configurations.
