Information

Sztolnie Kowary is an underground world of legends, secrets and true history, associated for nearly 700 years with the search for minerals and the extraction of precious stones, iron, silver and uranium. After the Second World War, the mining of uranium began, which was then sent to the Soviet Union. The mining works were completed in 1973. From that year the Wrocław University of Science and Technology conducted research and classes for students in the mine. Currently, there is a tourist route there. The Underground Tourist Route "Liczyrzepa" Mine was established in 2000. The sightseeing route is 1,200 meters long and takes about 60 minutes. Sightseeing takes place only with a guide. Many exhibits and exhibitions related to the centuries-long exploration of uranium and iron ores in this area have been prepared for visitors. While walking along the sidewalks of the workings, visitors can also come across the famous Treasury of Walloons. There are 13 dosimetry points on the tour route, constantly monitored by the Institute of Occupational Medicine in Łódź, thanks to which visiting is safe.
