Information

The Glass Heritage Center (Polish: Centrum Dziedzictwa Szkła w Krośnie) is the first tourist and cultural facility in Poland that presents the subject of glass manufacturing and the broadly understood glass art in an interactive way. The facility consists of two buildings - one of them is located at 2 Blich Street, the other is the so-called threshold cellars, which are located Western side of the Krosno Market Square. In the main building, visitors can watch glass production presentations. They will see how glass decorative and artistic objects are made. They will also be able to try their hand at blowing the glass mold themselves. The sightseeing program also includes glass processing and decoration workshops: glass painting workshop, engraving workshop, stained glass production and production of glass figurines using the burner method. In the building at 2 Blich Street, there are also permanent exhibitions of glass products (utility, decorative and artistic glass), a glass souvenir shop and a cinema and conference room. The threshold cellars there are an exhibition of the most valuable works of glass art, made by the most famous artists active or related to Krosno (Paweł and Stanisław Jan Borowscy, Jerzy and Mateusz Marajowie, Henryk and Rafał Rysz, Agnieszka Leśniak-Banasiak, Maciej Habrat, Marzena Krzemińska-Baluch , Stanisław Mól and Witold Śliwiński). It is also in them that the so-called the "glass in physics" room, where tourists learn about the properties of glass, carrying out their own experiments on glass props (including lenses, kaleidoscope, optical fibers). In the basement of the Krosno market, visitors can also see examples of glass made in the city for famous global brands, incl. Venetian Murano. Visiting the Center (the main building with threshold cellars) takes about 2 hours, and the main building itself takes about 1.5 hours.
