The Royal Castles Museum in Szydłów

Information

The Royal Castles Museum is the only such facility in Poland that presents the subject of Szydłów Castle in a broad European context. It is located in Skarbczyk, which itself is a building of an extremely complex origin, built on the foundations of two cylindrical towers. There are 10 mock-ups of castles, realistic figures of famous people living at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries, made on a 1: 1 scale, installations imitating, among others, the castle cellar or the operation of the hypocaust furnace. The museum is equipped with touch panels with multimedia applications, aimed mainly at children. With the help of touch screens, they can play in multimedia applications such as "Castle Siege" or "Knight's Tournament". They can also make a virtual fire in the fireplace to heat the room before the king's arrival and bring wine to the evening feast. In the basement of the Skarbczyk, arranged into the castle cellar, several-minute-long films are played: "A Feast" and "Audience". The films show hypothetical scenes from the stay of King Władysław Jagiełło and Queen Anna Cylejska at the Castle in Szydłów (period 1402-1416). The whole was supplemented with exhibitions of artifacts discovered during archaeological exploration of the Szydłów castle, among others coins, tools, items of clothing and weapons, tiles and ceramic vessels.

Please note that ITS-Poland works with groups only (10 participants and more).
