Information

The stronghold on Birów Mountain is a wooden settlement stylized as a medieval stronghold from the beginning of the Polish state (10th-13th century). It is located near the Ogrodzieniec Castle, on one of the highest monadnocks in this area called Góra Birów (460 m above sea level). Discovered beginnings of people's stay on Mount Birów date back 30,000 years. The rock area provided flint, which was one of the first minerals for the production of tools and weapons. On the top of Mount Birów, as well as in its vicinity, they functioned in the 2nd and 3rd millennium BC. flint workshops: hatchets, arrowheads and other tools. It was then that the first agricultural settlement of the so-called Funnelbeaker culture. Currently, visitors can see thematic exhibitions gathered in the cottage of the owner of the settlement and the tower of warriors, which also houses artifacts found during the research. For schools and organized groups, there is an opportunity to take part in profiled tours, live history lessons or a Walk through the ages - a guided journey from the earliest times to the present day.
