Information

The castle in Toszek is one of the most interesting monuments in the western part of the Silesian Voivodeship. It is located slightly west of the center of Toszek. Its history dates back to the 10th-11th centuries. Prince Przemysław, who ruled here in the 15th century, built a brick building, and at the end of the 16th century a Renaissance residence was built here. The castle, which burned down in 1811, was partially rebuilt in the 1960s. Soon it became the seat of cultural institutions. Currently, it houses the "Zamek w Toszek" Cultural Center. Entry to the courtyard of the castle in Toszek is possible every day from 8.00 to 22.00, while visiting the castle in July and August. The castle is closed on Mondays. Tourists can visit the castle tower with a viewing point, see the theater telling the legend of the golden duck, and relax in the castle's cafe. Numerous exhibitions, concerts, vernissages, workshops and outdoor events are also organized here. One of the most frequently visited events is Brewerie Toszeckie, an event referring to the history of the castle, presenting historical reenactments and demonstrations of knightly fights on foot and on horses.
