Wapnica, 72-500
The Turquoise Lake (Polish: Jezioro Turkusowe Wolin) is situated in Wapnica village. In Poland turquoise lakes are very rare. This lake, although it isn’t visible at the first sight, is an artificial water body. It arose from the old chalk mine operating in the 50s. Right now the water in the old mine contains calcium compounds which give it this turquoise or emerald colour.
