Żywiec Lake is a man-made reservoir on the Sola river near Żywiec covering the total area of 10 square kilometres. Together with a hydroelectric dam is was completed in 1966 flooding a few nearby villages. The maximum depth is 26,8 metres, however, due to ongoing silting it is estimated that within 70 years of its construction the reservoir will have lost about 50% of the total volume.
