The north of Poland is very rich in lakes. Within Mazury Lake District tourists can find two of the biggest Polish lakes Śniardwy and Mamry. Apart from them the region boasts 2 700 lakes that are bigger than 1 hectare. In the area tourists can observe the most interesting Polish mammals such as: an European bison, moose, beaver, deer, wild boar, hare, wolf, lynx, fox, and badger. One of the best-preserved complexes of German bunkers from the Second World War is located in Mamerki on the Masurian Canal. The ceramic manufacture in Nakomiady was established at the beginning of the 18th century for the needs of the expansion of the Palace in Nakomiady. The established plant was mainly involved in firing and making bricks from local clay deposits.
