Information

Bolków Castle is situated 34 km from Jelenia Góra (about 40 min drive) and 80 km from Wrocław (about 1h 15 min drive). It is situated on a hill between a river and a town. The stronghold area is 7 600 square meters and was probably built in the 13th century. In the 14th century the castle was connected to the town by fortifications. The main characteristic of the castle is 25 meter high hunger tower with diameter of 12 meters. The castle has an interesting history. It has changed owners a few times, it was conquered by the Swedes, Russian soldiers also stationed here during Napoleonic wars, the German army had its base here during World War II. In the castle or more precisely in its extensive ruins, there is a regional museum (two floors in the Renaissance House of Ladies) and a headquarters of a knight brotherhood. Every year the castle is a site of, famous across Europe, Gothic music festival called “Castle Party”. There is also one more festival held here: Three Elements (travelers event). Bolków castle is a place worth visiting.
