Information

Upper Silesian Narrow-Gauge Railway is the oldest continuously operating narrow-gauge railway in the world. From the mid-nineteenth century were a key element of the transport system in the industrial district. Hundreds of kilometers of tracks with a gauge of 785 mm connected hundreds of mines, steel mills, factories and power plants of the agglomeration, serving the local transport of bulk cargo and semi-finished products. Since 2002, the railway has been operating as a tourist railway providing convenient access to the Nakło-Chechło Lagoon and to the Historic Silver Mine in Tarnowskie Góry. At the Bytom Karb Wąskotorowy station there are: a collection of historic rolling stock, the Chamber of Tradition (a small museum) and the Bytom Karb Wąskotorowy control room, where tourists can see unique and active mechanical railway traffic control devices. The railway has been a member of the Industrial Monuments Route since its inception. Every year he also takes part in Industriada. Cultural events (e.g. electronic music concerts), family picnics and outdoor games are organized at the station. The station area is made available for the needs of, among others organization of outdoor photography and reconstruction groups.
