Castle in Dąbrowa Niemodlińska

Information

The castle in Dąbrowa Niemodlińska is an example of one of the few mansions in the Opole region in the Renaissance style with decorative defensive elements. Its construction began in 1615 and was completed in 1617. Its founder was Joachim von Tschetschau-Mettich, a representative of an old Silesian family originating from the Czech Republic. The castle took on its contemporary shape almost three centuries later. Over the centuries, it changed the owners who administered the castle. Some councilors introduced and rebuilt the castle area, such as the Ziegler-Klippehausen family, which in 1805 established a 22-hectare park, a pheasant house and breeding ponds. The castle took its present shape in the years 1894-1897 - during the reign of the Hochber family, the Dukes of Pszczyna. It was they who gave it a Neo-Renaissance shape with a huge financial outlay. Currently, the castle has 3 572.86 m2. This area includes 30 rooms, 3 apartments, 5 chambers, a kitchen, dining room and two ballrooms. The castle also has a beautiful inner courtyard and spiral chimneys. It is an architectural rarity in Europe. Visiting the Castle in Dąbrowa is not possible on a daily basis. The castle itself can be seen from the outside by walking around it.
