Information

The Castle of the Dukes of Sułkowski, located in the city center, according to legend, stands in the place where several hundred years ago there was a stronghold of robbers who attacked merchants coming to the city. Kazimierz, a descendant of Prince Mieszko I, was to defeat these highwaymen and build a small castle, which with time grew into a large city fortification. The castle was rebuilt many times. In the middle of the 18th century it came into the possession of the Sułkowski family and has been known as the Sułkowski Castle ever since. Today, the castle is the seat of the Museum in Bielsko-Biała, rich in the collections. There are many exhibitions here. There you can learn about the pre-history of Podbeskidzie, see old musical instruments, and see what the room of a noble marriage looked like. The most representative room in the castle is the classicist music room, which resounds with music to this day.The Castle regularly hosts workshops and history lessons for the youngest children. Thanks to this, in the form of fun, e.g. by creating the city's coat of arms, they can learn about the history of Bielsko-Biała.
