Information

The Firefighting Museum was opened on September 14, 1975. The first seat of the museum were the buildings of the Nazi camp at Powstańców Street in Mysłowice. In 1991, the halls at Stadionowa Street in Mysłowice became the new seat of the museum. In 1992, the museum was incorporated into the structures of the State Fire Service and changed its name to the Central Museum of Firefighting. It is the largest facility of this type in Poland and one of the largest in Europe. The Central Museum of Firefighting has a very rich exhibition. The collection of fire trucks, both foreign and Polish, is beautiful. The oldest vehicle is the Benz-Gaggenau from 1913, and the autodladine Magirus from 1927 is not much younger. Extremely valuable are the collections of horse and manual water jets, horse ambulance cars, ladders and motor pumps. A unique monument is a sikawka from 1717, made in the Cistercian abbey in Henryków. In addition to firefighting equipment, in the museum you can see firefighter uniforms, helmets and collections of documents and photographs. The museum also present the profiles of people who rendered great service to the Polish fire service and large photographs of the oldest fire brigades in Silesia. There are also temporary exhibitions there. The Central Museum of Firefighting in Mysłowice is located on the Industrial Monuments Route of the Silesian Voivodeship.
