Information

The Średzka Poviat Railway is one of the last active narrow-gauge railways in Greater Poland. Its construction began in 1898. At that time, the section Kobylepole - Główna (Poznań East) with a length of 5.2 km was created. There was a main engine shed in Kobylimpol, servicing both standard and narrow-gauge steam locomotives. In Środa, however, an auxiliary steam locomotive shed was erected, where only narrow-gauge steam locomotives were stationed. The railway officially started operating on June 23, 1902. Today, the railway, as an attraction of the Średzki poviat, performs courses during the tourist season and on request. The courses take place only on the 13 km section of Środa Wielkopolska - Zaniemyśl.
