Information

The Green Gate in Gdańsk (Polish: Zielona Brama w Gdańsku) is probably one of the oldest water gates in Gdańsk. It was built in the years 1564–1568 by Regnier from Amsterdam and Hans Kramer from Dresden, as the Gdańsk residence of the kings of Poland. Represents typical forms of Dutch mannerism. Along with the Golden and Upland gates, it was connected with Długa and Długiego Targ streets, known as the Royal Road. Currently, it is the seat of a branch of the National Museum and the Gdańsk Gallery of Photography. Temporary exhibitions, various types of meetings, conferences and shows are organized here. The two main rooms of the building serve as exhibition rooms, which present temporary exhibitions of old and contemporary art, Polish and foreign art. In one of the rooms of the Green Gate there was the office of the former president of the Third Republic of Poland, Lech Wałęsa, which was moved in 2015 to the seat of the European Solidarity Center.
