Hipolit Mill

Information

The Hipolit mill was built in 1937, in the bend of the Bystra River. Its original interior with preserved machinery and equipment now serves as a residential house. Part of the ground floor has been converted into the Museum of Minerals. The museum's collection has over 5,000 exhibits and is constantly being expanded. It presents the largest collection of blue salt and other types of rock salt in Poland. You can see a 250-million-year-old fossilized fish from Brazil and a lump of brown coal weighing about 40 kg with clearly visible tree rings and bark. The museum offers also numerous workshops. During the museum lesson, you will see a rich collection of minerals, fossils and meteorites, will learn how the Earth is built. Many exhibits can be touched and viewed closely. Additionally, you will be able to see a volcano eruption and gain "wealth" while panning for gold. In addition, the Museum offers walks along the Bystra River valley, watching animated and inanimate nature. Outdoor games and activities, e.g. orienteering competitions, bonfires, carriage rides and sleigh rides. For adults, cosmetic workshops are organized, during which they will independently prepare products using natural, skin-friendly ingredients, as well as workshops of painting unique patterns on fabrics with the use of plant stamps.
