Information

The Historical Museum in Bielsko-Biała - Old Factory is located at Żwirki i Wigury Square 8, in the original buildings of the cloth and wool goods factory of the Büttner family. Inside, there is an unusual historical exhibition telling the history of Bielsko-Biała's industry. In addition, visitors can learn about the technology of producing woolen fabrics on the original, historic production line. Among the exhibits of the museum, visitors will see various types of machines and devices used in spinning, weaving and finishing, as well as for the production of hats. They are complemented by laboratory equipment, fabric printing blocks and rollers, brochures and letterheads, and an extensive collection of material samples from local factories. The closed and no longer expanded collections include, among others knitting machines, an extensive collection of household appliances (including irons for ironing), over a hundred radios, numerous televisions, turntables and tape recorders, gramophone records, sewing, typing and counting machines, as well as sports equipment, mainly ski equipment. There are also some exhibits related to firefighting and an electrotechnical collection, taken over entirely from a private person: antique bulb holders, fuses, insulators, sockets, switches and light bulbs. The museum has a professional library, incl. with publications on textile technology from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and "Annals of Polish Industry and Trade" from 1934 and 1938. Temporary exhibitions are presented in the attic of the Factory Gallery. Apart from traditional tours, the museum also conducts workshops for organized groups.

Please note that ITS-Poland works with groups only (10 participants and more).
