Jelenia Góra is a Lower Silesian town located in a valley, between the Karkonosze and the Kaczawskie Mountains, on the Bóbr. It is an old, historical city with many architectural monuments. To this day, the remains of the former fortifications have survived: the Wojanowska Gate with a tower, the remains of walls that are elements of other buildings, e.g. at Jelenia and Baszty street: Grodzka and Zamkowa. In the center of the old town there is the Town Hall Square with the Town Hall from the middle of the 18th century. There are also historic religious buildings: the Church of St. Erasmus and Pankracy - the oldest sacred building in Jelenia Góra (1552), the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross from the early 18th century - the largest church in the city, the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, currently the Orthodox Church of Saints Peter and Paul also from the 18th century, chapel St. Anna - located inside a medieval tower or a complex of an Evangelical church from 1709-1718. Jelenia Góra is also a cultural center. There are theaters, the Jelenia Góra Philharmonic, cinemas, many museums, galleries, cabarets, and music groups.
