Information

Kalisz Old Town is a historical area of Kalisz located on the right bank of the Prosna River, surrounded by Plants and the City Park. Today - the central part of Śródmieście. Its creation dates back to the 13th century. It has a trapezoidal shape. It is surrounded by historic tenement houses, renovated or rebuilt after the destruction made by the Germans in 1914. The town hall building, rebuilt after the First World War, is located in the center. Kalisz is the only city of this size and rank in Poland that does not have a promenade in the old town which is a place for meetings and walks. The most important monuments in the area of Stary Rynek are: St. Nicholas the Bishop's Cathedral, Collegiate Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (St. Mary's Church), St. Wojciech and St. Stanisław Bishop Church and the Palace of the Kalisz Voivodship Commission.
