Information

The Mieroszewski Palace in Będzin is a beautiful baroque-classicist Gzichowski Palace. It is a typical eighteenth-century noble residence modeled on French palaces. It was erected after 1702 as a symbol of the position and rank of the Mieroszewski family in the Duchy of Siewier. Over the centuries, the palace has been beautified and expanded - hence the heterogeneous stylish character. The interior design deserves attention, especially the rich 18th-century secular polychrome in the representative salons of the first floor. The wall paintings show figures of ancient chiefs in illusionist architecture, hunting scenes taking place in a romantic landscape, portrait medallions, genre and tournament scenes. It is an example of the oldest polychrome of this type preserved in a secular building in the Zagłębie area. Since 1982, the palace houses the Zagłębie Museum, where you can visit, among others, the exhibition "The History of Zagłębie Region" of an archaeological and historical nature, showing monuments from the Palaeolithic to the early 20th century. There is also an interesting ethnographic exhibition - "Farmstead in Zagłębie".
