Information

The MAGDALENA Oil Industry Open-Air Museum was established on the site of the former Magdalena mine in Gorlice at Lipowa Street. It was designed in such a way as to ensure the most faithful recreation of the history of the Gorlice oil industry basin and the preservation of its memorabilia. In the open-air museum you can see not only the tools and devices with which oil was extracted from the ground over 100 years ago, but you can also try to kindle a fire in the forge with a bellows, forge a horseshoe on an anvil "for good luck", bow to Saint Barbara, see the beautiful panorama of the Beskids Niski, from the drilling tower from the reconstructed quarry "Ćwiartka" from before 1880, bring out "black gold", which is carefully guarded by the Gorlice head (an oil worker). There you can also see the reconstruction of the rock oil outflow itself, which was collected in the so-called chubs or trappers and collected by the mullet. In the drilling part there is a shaft with a wooden drilling and viewing tower and a forge necessary for drilling in which drill bits for hammer drilling were sharpened (patted). The stay in the open-air museum is educational, historical, and tells a lot about the traditions of the region. Here you can see the beautiful history of the Gorlice Oil Industry Basin. Visitors can also take advantage of the barbecue and sports and recreational games. This unique place attracts Gorlicz citizens, local residents and tourists.

Please note that ITS-Poland works with groups only (10 participants and more).
