Information

The palace and park complex in Pławniowice, known primarily as the Ballestrem Palace, is located in the village of Pławniowice, in the Silesian Voivodeship. The palace was erected at the request of Count Francis II Ballester in 1882-85 on the site of an earlier building from 1737. It was to become a beautiful family residence. The palace and park complex consists of a palace with a chapel of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, farm buildings and an outhouse with a stable and a coach house. All buildings are kept in an interesting Dutch neo-Mannerist style with neo-Gothic additions. The whole is surrounded by a wonderful landscape park. Since 1989, the owner of the palace in Pławniowice has been the Educational and Formation Center of the Diocese of Gliwice, and its long-term director, priest Dr. Krystian Worbs, led to a major renovation of the magnificent palace, which is the cultural heritage of this region. In 2007, the palace and park complex in Pławniowice was the only one in the Silesian Voivodeship to receive an award in the competition of the General Conservator of Monuments "Well - Keept Monument".
