Information

The Queen Louise Adit in Zabrze is a tourist complex that includes two historical mining sites: the Main Key Hereditary Adit and the Queen Louise Mine. Tourists can visit several underground routes here, divided according to age groups and thematic scope (including the water route). They will have the opportunity to meet the inhabitants of the underground, visit the largest underground park of large-size mining machines in Europe, go on a journey on the Karlik mining railway, as well as traverse a 6-meter-thick coal seam. They will also have a unique opportunity to take advantage of a one-of-a-kind attraction - underground rafting, the longest section of the adit in Europe, waiting on the Underground Water Route! This is an amazing adventure, taking place 40 meters under the Zabrze, in original workings of the former Main Key Hereditary Adit, and at the same time the longest underground route of this type in coal mining! During the boat ride near the very center of the city with 180,000 inhabitants, you will meet legendary figures for Upper Silesia, such as the Treasurer or Utopek. In addition to the underground part, the Queen Louise Adit Complex also has surface buildings, such as: a hoisting machine building with a working steam engine, a historic chain bath, a water softening building, accumulator room, compressor station and 6kv switching station, Carnall shaft with a shaft tower on which at the top there is a viewing platform.
