Information

The Railway History Museum in Częstochowa was founded in 2001. The seat of the museum is the first floor of the Częstochowa Stradom railway station. The museum was founded on the initiative of railway enthusiasts who decided to keep a piece of their work history for posterity. The long and rich history of Polish railways is evidenced by the collection of nameplates for locomotives and wagons, used in the past by Polish State Railways and other carriers. Interestingly, among the dominant Polish producers from Warsaw and Chrzanów, we can also find plates from other countries - for example, the former Yugoslavia, Romania and the United States. A rare exhibit is the electric locomotive driving simulator. In the museum in Częstochowa, the station manager's room was also reconstructed. The furnishings of this interior come from several stations in Częstochowa and the surrounding area. In the museum, visitors will also have the opportunity to see, among others elements of equipment for locomotives and carriages, an extensive collection of lamps for various purposes, railway equipment, medals and documents, infrastructure maintenance equipment, uniforms, photos, railway station equipment and various clocks and telephones. There are also two historic steam locomotives under the care of the museum - TKt48-151 (standing at the Częstochowa railway station) and Ol49-20 (standing near the depot). Since October 19, 2006, the Railway History Museum has been on the Industrial Monuments Route of the Silesian Voivodeship.

Please note that ITS-Poland works with groups only (10 participants and more).
